Information for Year 6 students
The move to 'big school' can be both exciting and a little bit daunting. You'll experience lots of changes but you'll be supported along the way by your form Tutor, your Head of House and your fellow students at the College. Sidmouth College benefits from being smaller in size than some of the neighbouring secondary schools so you'll soon find your way around, make new friends and feel at home.
Questions, questions...
Of course, you'll have lots of questions. What uniform should I wear? What sports will I be able to do? How much homework will I get? What's the food like? Who can I speak to if I'm worried about anything? Can I be in the same tutor group as my friends?
Many of these questions will be answered for you when you join us for a 3-day induction at the College in the July before you start secondary school. During those 3 days you will get to meet your tutor, your Head of House and learn to navigate your way around the College. You'll also get to try out some lessons such as Maths, English, Tech, Science and PE. And, of course, you'll have the opportunity to try out the delicious food in the Restaurant! By the end of the 3 days you'll feel a lot more confident about joining us in September.
In the meantime, you'll find lots more useful information in the Year 7 Guide and our 'Year in the Life of Year 7' booklet, both below. You can also look under the other tabs on the left of this page to find out more about student life at the College such as the extra-curricular activities on offer, what's in the College Library and what's on the menu in the Restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming you to the College!
