In the Boys’ races, our Year 7 boys came 4th overall with Will Bond the first Sidmouth boy to finish, in 18th place. Meanwhile, the Junior Boys also came 4th overall, with Year 8 student Sam Pyne racing home in 3rd place, a fantastic achievement given this category also included boys a year older. Unfortunately, Year 9 student Toby Garrick was unable to run due to a broken toe but has been allowed to compete as an individual in the next round on the basis of his progression to County in previous years. In the Inter Boys race, Rory Morgan also had a great run to secure 5th place helping the Sidmouth team into 5th place overall.
Sidmouth girls also put in a strong performance. In the Year 7 race, the Sidmouth team came 4th overall with Kate Marriott finishing in 13th place and Jess Truman just behind in 17th. The Junior girls team also came 4th overall, with Isabelle Pinnock coming in 10th place and Aimee Keast in 13th. Finally, brilliant runs from Emily Vicary, who finished 5th, and Aimee Vine, who finished 10th, helped secure an overall 3rd place for the Girls’ Inter team.
The first 16 finishers in each race now go on to represent East Devon at the Exeter vs East Devon Championships at Haldon on Wednesday 3rd December, together with two reserves (17th and 18th place finishers) who will also be required to attend and run (although their score at the event will only count towards East Devon’s total if any of the first 16 withdraw). As a result, Sidmouth now has nine runners going on to represent East Devon at the Haldon event on 3rd December. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish them all the best of luck.
