Against the odds, and nominated with Bill Nighy, Ben Miles and Bradley Cooper for this prestigious award, Alex was chosen as Best Actor at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He stands alongside Best Actress, Helen Mirren, to be recognised for his Broadway debut performance.
Head of Performing and Creative Arts, Angela Davies, who directed him in 2002 when he played the role of Oliver in ‘Oliver’ for the Youth Theatre, was delighted to hear the news and knows his feet will not have touched the ground since receiving his award on Sunday. “What an amazing achievement for such a young man who is clearly destined to achieve future success in the theatre world. It is gratifying to think that his first taste was here in Sidmouth at the College and the Manor Pavilion in Sidmouth.”
Miss Davies has, herself, become a bit of a star after being interviewed by BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Devon and The Mail on Sunday in connection with Alex’s award. On 10th June we even had the West Country ITV News crew in College to film a piece with Miss Davies and some of her students. Exciting stuff!
