Drawn in Pool B, the girls played four games on their way to the final stages with the following results: Game 1 vs King’s 6 ½ to 5 ½; Game 2 vs Honiton 11 ½ to 4; Game 3 vs Uffculme 8 to 5; and Game 4 vs St Johns 9 to 2 ½. Having won all the pool games, the Sidmouth girls went through to face the runners-up from Pool B, Exmouth. Winning the toss, the Sidmouth girls put the Exmouth team into bat first. Some outstanding and consistent fielding by the whole team saw Exmouth score just 2 ½ rounders. Stepping into bat, our girls knew what they needed to do to secure their place in the final. They didn’t let nerves get in the way and, with nearly every person on the team scoring at least ½ a rounder, the girls won the semi convincingly by scoring 7 rounders.
In the final, the team faced a battle with Colyton, who had also won all their games so far. It was an extremely close final but the fielding and batting strength of our girls was evident and they emerged as deserved champions, with a close score of 6 ½ to 6. Many congratulations go to team members: Hannah Rudgard, Millie Jarrett, Jasmine Scott, Lily Goodier, Emma Seward, Daisy Hall, Katie Gilbert, Josie Crisp and Lucy Gosling.
