Activity 5 - Create a video presentation of Sidmouth College in French!
In groups you will plan a script and then film a guided tour around the college, presenting all the rooms and areas of the college in French. When complete, share your presentation with the other groups. Your video could then be placed on the new ‘French at Sidmouth’ webpage on the College website and may even be shared with the French-speaking school in the Swiss town of Le Locle (Sidmouth’s twin town)! You will also have the chance to get creative and produce a display board featuring photos from your presentation with labels in French.

Activity 8 - The Power of the Media
Do you know that the average person in the UK consumes 9 hours 40 minutes of media every day? The media, unsurprisingly, has a massive influence on what we think and how we behave. Is this good?
In this workshop we will analyse some of the messages the media helps to spread and debate whether the media needs to be thought about differently.
You will then get the opportunity to creatively explore what we have learnt through creating copies of existing media texts and changing one or more elements of an existing media text to create media with a new meaning.

Activity 10 - Marvellous Mandalas
Are you creative and imaginative?
Do you have patience and teamwork skills?
Do you like playing with sand!?
We will be designing and creating Buddhist mandalas – beautiful symmetrical pictures – out of coloured sand.
You will be shown examples and, in groups, will create your design. We will then go outside and use coloured sand to create beautiful pictures.
Buddhist monks use these as a form of meditation. At the end of the process the mandalas are swept or tipped away to show that nothing is permanent. This bit is super fun too!
