Board of Governors
The Governors have overall responsibility for the effective management of the College. They act within the framework set by Government legislation and by the policies of the local Education Authority.
The Governors are responsible for the finances of the College, delegated to it by the local Management of Schools. They are also responsible for the policies of the College, including those relating to the delivery of the National Curriculum.
The Governors take an active part in many of the College’s activities. They also form, or take part in, committees concerned with all aspects of College life.
The Full Governing Board meets once every half term as do the two main committees; Learning & Standards and Resources. The terms of reference for both of these committees can be accessed by clicking the links above. Both committees report back to the Full Governing Board. We also have the Pay & Performance Committee who report to the Full Governing Board and the Principal’s Appraisal committee who report to the Pay & Performance Committee.
There are a number of other committees that meet as and when they are required: First (Hearings) Committee, Second (Appeals) Committee, Complaints Committee and Pay Appeals Committee.
Our Governing Board consists of five Parent Governors, one Local Authority Governor, six Co-opted Governors, one staff Governor and the Principal (EX-Officio Governor). Elections are held for the Parent Governor vacancies when they arise. All parents of students attending the College at that time are eligible to stand for election, and to vote.
To contact the Clerk to the Governing Board either telephone 01395 514823 or email jliddle@sidmouthcollege.devon.sch.uk
