To become a member of the council, at the start of the academic year students must complete an application form and submit it to their form tutor. The tutor then selects two of the applicants to represent the tutor group for that year. If a tutor group has a lot of interest, their is the option for the group to operate on a rota basis, in which 2 different students will represent their tutor each half term.
There will be 1-2 meetings per half term where the tutor representatives will meet with the rest of their house. These meetings are run by the Year 11 Student Heads of House.
What do Council members do?
The Council meet regularly. They work on an agenda of items devised by themselves and two supporting teachers, who are currently Mr Demetre and Mrs Chapple-Hyam. Discussions are on a democratic basis so that everyone is represented. The members set termly targets and advertise these in the assemblies. Senior leaders and Governors also have a role in supporting and authorising projects.
The aim of the Council is to allow all students to have a voice in the daily running of the College. Members of the Student Council also:

We would also like to bridge the gap with 6th form and make this a whole school council.
There will be changes to praise and house identity.
We have lots of ideas about benefits and authoritative roles we can give to different students.
Again watch this space for more...
