Safeguarding: Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct was agreed upon after discussions including staff, governors, parents and students. It is made up of a series of easy-to-learn statements that we expect all members of the College community to comply with.

The Responsibility to:

You have a lunchtime pass, or
You have been given permission by a teacher
In all cases, you must report to the school office before leaving the site.
Students who need to miss lessons to attend a sports fixture should first seek permission from their teacher and then catch up on any work missed. If you are absent from College for any other reason you must bring an explanatory note from your parents.

Use of buildings and grounds

- Come to the College prepared to learn and ready to work. Behaviour which hinders the work of others is unacceptable.
- Treat others with respect, courtesy and consideration. We do not accept behaviour which belittles, hurts and makes others feel uncomfortable.
- Look after College property, buildings and environment.
Safety of students
- Cycling: If you cycle to College you are advised to wear a helmet and to lock your bike securely in the cycle shed.
- Smoking: The College is a non-smoking community. Cigarettes, matches and lighters are not allowed in school.
- Substance misuse: You are not allowed to bring aerosol cans or correcting fluid into school.
- Absence: You should not leave the College premises during the day unless:

Property
- Uniform: College uniform must be worn properly at all times. The correct kit for PE and practical lessons must also be worn. All uniform and kit should be clearly named.
- Stationery: You should bring pens, pencils, a ruler, a rubber and a notebook to College with you every day. It is also useful to have a small dictionary, a calculator and a memory stick.
- Money: Large amounts of money or valuable items of personal property should not be brought to the College. We cannot accept responsibility for such items. Students changing for PE should always hand any valuables to their teacher at the start of the lesson.
- School books: Library books, exercise books and other College property should be looked after with great care. They must not be drawn on or defaced. You will have to pay for any lost or damaged items. When you leave College you will be expected to return all books and College property issued to you as part of the signing off process.
Use of buildings and grounds
- Classrooms: You are expected to behave sensibly and not to damage any room or leave it untidy. We expect students to treat all furniture and equipment with care and report any accidental damage to a member of staff. We may charge for the repair or replacement of damaged items.
- Litter: All litter and rubbish should be placed in the bins provided. Chewing gum is not allowed in College.
- Movement around College: Students are expected to move around the College in an orderly way, walking to the left in corridors and on stairs. Only sixth formers and students accompanying their parents are allowed to use the Main Entrance and the Link Block. Students must be quiet whenever they see ‘Examinations in Progress’ signs.
